The Rhodes School is the vision of Michelle L. Bonton. Michelle is a veteran educator who has lived in the North Channel area for over twenty years. Michelle worked in the North Channel area as an educator for seven years. She taught high school at North Shore 9/10 Campus and served as the counselor at Green Valley Elementary School until August 2004. She went on to serve as a public school administrator in Houston ISD and the private school arena. Michelle has always had a passion for the academic success of children and for those in the North Channel particularly. The opportunity to see her vision realized through high student learning and personal growth and development fuels her passion
During her time as counselor at Green Valley, Michelle worked tirelessly to develop and promote programs to benefit the children of her school. She was part of a group of community members that opened the door for a proven character education program at Green Valley Elementary School. A member of the volunteer group received recognition from the Texas Education Agency for the impact the program made in the lives of students who participated.
Michelle is also a successful grant writer who has written grants totaling in the millions at the federal, state, and local level.
Michelle holds a bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing from the University of Houston, a master’s degree in counseling from Prairie View University, and an educational leadership/mid-management certification from Stephen F. Austin University. She is a state certified teacher, counselor, and school administrator.
